Betel nut stand. Here more than anywhere else in the world, people chew on Betel nut. They put some kind of white power on it and mix it with some other chemicals . . . strong stuff.

Notice how active it is. Worshipers can not only poor water over buddha, but can also fan him, look at flashing lights surrounding his head, and even sweep in unison.

We hired a canoe to tour around the lake.


We took a boat tour further into the lake the next day.
The boatmen on Inle Lake paddle using their leg, a unique way to get around.

We were lucky to see this drag show in a temple. She (He) danced around drinking and smoking while a family gave her money. It went on for more than an hour and we guess that it was a fertility dance for a boy because there were only girls in the family.

Finally, the Golden Rock. Hard to get to and very disappointing . . . but it matched Brian's shinny head.
