Brian Schaller is from the rural town of Chico, California. He went to college at U.C. San Diego and National Taiwan University, majoring in Chinese Studies.  After graduating in 1995 he went to Mexico for two years where he began his career as a journalist.  He is now trilingual, speaking Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and English.  During his career he wrote for a national newspaper in Mexico, a national magazine in America, and was a television reporter and weather forecaster for 6 years.  Brian is currently a full-time student at USC Law School.

Susana Tsang was born in Hong Kong, but her parents moved New York City when she was an infant.  After moving from New York, she spent her high school years in Los Angeles, California.  For college, she went to U.C. San Diego and Beijing University, deciding on a major in Media Arts.  She moved back to L.A. to work for an educational software company.  Susana then decided to continue with her studies, getting her Masters in Computer Science from California State University, Chico.  Like Brian, Susana is trilingual, speaking Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. Susana is currently a Project Manager.

Brian and Susana met during freshman orientation at U.C. San Diego, but did not start dating until 1998, when Brian returned from Mexico.  Even before they were together, Brian and Susana dreamed of traveling around the world.  After their wedding on June 15, 2002, they began planning.

A year and a half later Brian quit his job as a television reporter to pursue this dream.   At the same time, Susana completed her Masters thesis.  They were both ready to make this once in a lifetime opportunity into a reality.

Brian and Susana Schaller left most of their worldly possessions behind on March 7, 2004 and with two backpacks they boarded a plane from LAX to Bangkok. 1 year 11 months and 3 days later they set down in San Francisco, ending their journey. During that time they visited 30 countries, 3 continents and a subcontinent, and had countless adventures.

Susana and Brian are currently living in Los Angeles.
